KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
LANGUAGE ARTS
Our Kindergarten language arts program is built around Beginning to Read, Write, and Listen, a comprehensive, multisensory approach designed to give young learners a strong foundation in literacy.
Through engaging visual, auditory, and hands-on activities, students learn letter recognition and formation, sound-symbol relationships, phonemic awareness, and how sounds blend together to create words. Explicit, systematic phonics instruction helps children develop the skills and confidence they need to become successful readers and writers.
A collection of 24 letter books provides meaningful practice through activities that strengthen reading readiness, handwriting, listening, and early language skills. Most importantly, the program makes learning to read engaging, active, and fun while allowing each child to grow at an appropriate pace.
MATHEMATICS
Kindergarten students use Sadlier’s Progress in Mathematics, a hands-on program designed to build a strong foundation in early mathematical thinking. Through engaging lessons and meaningful practice, students develop number sense while learning to recognize patterns, make connections, and solve problems.
Throughout the year, students explore counting, number recognition, sorting, patterns, measurement, graphing, geometry, telling time, addition, and subtraction. These early experiences help children build the confidence and skills needed for future success in mathematics.
SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES
Kindergarten students discover the world around them through the Little SCIENCE Thinkers and Little SOCIAL STUDIES Thinkers curricula. Hands-on activities, engaging lessons, and age-appropriate investigations encourage children to ask questions, make connections, and become curious learners.
In science, students explore the scientific method, five senses, weather/seasons, properties of matter, force of motion, and plants and animals. Social studies introduces communities, citizenship, past and present, traditions around the world, helping children understand both their own community and the diverse world beyond it.
